Tip Thursday

Will power, determination whatever you want to call it takes time and practice. I talk about practicing the art of restraint, learning when and how to say to yourself and others "no thank you" and sticking to it if you don't want to eat or drink something that is not in line with your goals. Be strong and think about what you really want. The sense of pride knowing you could but resisted in turn getting you closer to the body you want or the regret of wishing you hadn’t got drunk or binged. Here is something you can employ to help you with the practicing or restraint. The mouthful rule. Here is what you do, when you have that first sip or mouthful of something whether it's wine or cake you should be really enjoying it right? Well every couple of mouthfuls ask yourself "am I still really enjoying this as much as the first mouthful?" If the answer is no that is when you should stop. Quite often and especially with alcohol people keep drinking as that is what you "do" or people buckle to pressure from friends who are in the mood to get wasted and start teasing, wimp, lightweight and other things like that.

Well that is not what YOU do if you want something different for yourself is it? Nothing changes if nothing changes so you need to take as many steps as necessary to make the changes YOU want for yourself. Be bold and stop. Remember you are the one who controls what you do. To avoid beating yourself up later and wishing you hadn't drunk or eaten something when you have overdone it, stop whilst you are still genuinely enjoying it.
